Our story

Building tools for musicians since 2010

8:45 Tools is an indie software company with one mission: create simple, powerful tools that make playing music more enjoyable.

Our journey

From a small chords app to a cross-platform platform loved by musicians worldwide.

GuitarTapp launches on Android

It started with a simple idea: put chord charts and guitar tabs on your phone. After GuitarTapp's initial launch in the Nokia Ovi Store, development for Android began soon. GuitarTapp Pro became one of the first dedicated guitar chord apps in the Google Play Store, quickly building a loyal following among guitarists who wanted their music on the go.

Responding to demand from iPhone owners, GuitarTapp expanded to iOS. Musicians on every major mobile platform could now enjoy the clean, fast chord chart experience that had won fans on Android. Another version for Windows Phone launched later this year.

Chords.wiki - a new era

After years of listening to users and watching mobile platforms evolve, we completely reimagined what a chord app could be. Chords.wiki launched as a Progressive Web App that runs natively on every platform - tested for 2 years by over 1,000 beta users before its public release. It combines the best of GuitarTapp Pro and ChordPro with real-time sync, a modern interface, and many more features to support musicians.

What we believe

The principles that have guided 8:45 Tools from day one.

Musicians first

Every decision we make starts with one question: does this make playing music easier or more enjoyable? We're musicians ourselves and build what we actually want to use.

Accessibility everywhere

Music shouldn't be locked to one platform or device. We believe your chord charts should be available wherever you are - on any device, even offline.

Built with our community

We actively listen to our users in the Facebook group and Discord server. The best features in Chords.wiki came directly from user requests.

Continuous improvement

We ship new features and improvements every week. As a small indie team, we move fast and stay close to our users.

Trust & reliability

Your music library is important. We take data reliability seriously - with real-time cloud sync, your songs are always safe and up to date.

Fair pricing

Chords.wiki is free to get started, with an optional Pro membership for power users. We believe the core experience should be accessible to everyone.
